Sombor is a city that has a lot to offer its visitors and residents. This city in the north of Serbia is known for its rich history, architecture and multiculturalism. Sombor was the seat of Bačka County in Austria-Hungary, and today it is the center of Zapadnobački District.
In Sombor you can see numerous cultural monuments, such as the Town Hall, the Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, the Franciscan Monastery, the Karlo Bijelicki Local Library and others. Sombor is also a city of art, where famous painters, writers and musicians lived and worked, such as Milan Konjović, Laza Kostić, Isidora Sekulić and others.
What are the Sombor Music Festivals?
The Sombor music festivals were founded in 2013 with the aim of enriching the cultural offer of Sombor and promoting classical music as the universal language of art. The festival is conceived as an opportunity to present the best domestic and foreign classical music performers to the audience, as well as to encourage the development of young talents and cooperation between artists.
The festival is held in the beautiful surroundings of the Town Hall , which is one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in Sombor. The town house was built by the famous architect Jozef Brandl in 1808 in the style of classicism. It has a ceremonial hall with rich wall paintings and chandeliers, which has excellent acoustics and atmosphere for concerts.
In addition to the City Hall, the festival is also held at other locations in the city, such as galleries and museums, as well as the National Theatre. In this way, the festival connects different spaces and institutions that preserve the cultural heritage of Sombor.

The festival offers a diverse program that includes different genres and styles of classical music, from baroque to contemporary compositions, as well as some elements of folk and jazz music. Renowned soloists, chamber ensembles and orchestras from Serbia, the region and the world perform at the festival. Some of the famous guests of the festival were Simon Trpčeski, Zagreb soloists, Bizjak duo, Mate Bekavac, Sergio Azzolini and others.
This year's edition of the festival will be held from October 19 to 23 and brings another attractive program that will satisfy all lovers of classical music. Some of the best domestic performers will perform at the festival, such as violinist Nemanja Radulović, pianist Jelena Simonović Kovačević, guitarist Vojin Kocić, flautist Ana Batinica and others. There will also be guests from abroad, such as pianist Boris Berezovsky from Russia, cellist Monika Leskovar from Croatia, clarinetist David Krakauer from the USA and others.

Get to know other cultural contents at the festival
In addition to concerts, the festival also organizes exhibitions, lectures, book promotions and other accompanying events related to music and culture. For example, this year an exhibition of paintings by Milan Konjović will be opened in the Milan Konjović Gallery , which is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of this great painter. A lecture on the life and work of Isidore Sekulić will also be held in the Karlo Bijelicki Local Library, which is named after the first Serbian librarian.
