Sarmiada is more than a sarma cooking competition. It is a real gastronomic and cultural festival, which attracts thousands of visitors every year. At Sarmijada, you can not only enjoy delicious sarma. Given that Sarmijada is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, a rich offer and even more competitors and visitors are expected. Although the event is primarily dedicated to sarma, it also includes the sale and tasting of various other domestic products, such as jams, ajvar, zimnica and sweets. Indispensable products are honey, Lycider products and brandy.

Sarmijada - How to register for the sarma cooking competition?

If you are skilled in cooking sarma and want to show your skills in front of an expert jury and an audience, you can apply for a sarma cooking competition. You need to have a team of 5 to 10 members, one of whom is the head chef, and the rest are assistants. The registration fee is symbolic per team and amounts to 3500 dinars. Applications are made by phone or email until October 15.

Competitors may cook in a kettle, earthen pot, sach, pot or any other vessel they provide. In addition, they also provide other ingredients for sarma (sauerkraut, spinach, vine leaves or something else of your choice), spices and other necessities. The organizer provides 2.5 kg of minced meat (1 kg of beef and 1.5 kg of pork), firewood and bread.

The competition takes place in three categories: classic sarma (in cabbage), unusual sarma (in vines, spinach or something else chosen by the participants) and lean sarma (vegetarian). The jury will evaluate the taste, appearance and originality of the sarma. The best teams will be awarded with cups, medals and valuable gifts.
